New feeder stacker for Durst Rho now offers unattended operation for rigid media
17 October, 2003

Unlike other digital flatbed printers the Rho 160 has a continuous same way feed of materials. This offers Rho users many advantages. In addition to the length of imaging only being governed by the length of the material, it enabled the Rho from the outset to be able to provide unattended roll to roll printing.

Now, with the introduction of the unique feeder stacker system that was first shown at the recent SGIA show in Atlanta, it is also capable of unattended printing of rigid substrates.

This is another significant technological leap forward for those customers looking to achieve the economical benefits of unattended printing.

Automated feed and stacking of sheet material
The feeder/stacker for the Rho direct to media inkjet printer provides automatic feed and stacking of sheets and sheet-like materials. The sheets are fed from a stack delivered on a pallet, aligned and right-justified to the direction of feed and transported to the pinch rollers in the Rho.

In addition to the increase in throughput by minimising loading and unloading times, the main advantage is that one person can easily operate the Rho. They are able to handle heavy or large sheets of material, even those with sensitive surfaces such as glass and polycarbonates. In fact, it is possible for a single person to operate several output devices at once, with the Rho being loaded and left to print a large volume of work, unattended.

The feeder stacker is yet another reason why the Rho is considered to be the most productive machine of its type. In a recent article in the German "Large Format Printing" magazine the Rho 160 was voted the ROI-Champion (Return of Investment-Champion) against other competitive machines.
