At the recent Open Week held at Durstπs offices in Epsom, Durst demonstrated their recently launched Lambda Lab
to a wide range of different photolabs, including those engaged in social, wedding, schools and commercial
photography. Visitors were not only given the opportunity to see the machine in full working mode but were also
able to make prints from their own material.
The Open Week has been a great success, said Graham Evans, Managing Director of Durst UK. The initial feed
back is very positive and several companies are pursuing the project. Itπs easy enough to talk about the Lambda Labπs very high productivity but the only way to appreciate its outstanding print quality is to see it yourself.
The Lambda Lab is a fully digital lab system based on the proven Lambda laser technology linked to a high-speed
RA4 processor. It is designed for the continuous production of print sizes up to a maximum of 20 in. by 15 ft
(50cm x 5m). It is also capable of producing almost 1000 8 x 10in. (20 x 30cm) prints an hour, using 20 in. width
media and printing on panels in multiple print or auto-nesting mode.
Like the Lambda before it, the Lambda Lab is built to last. The proven reliability of the Lambda has been a major
contributory factor to its unparalleled success in the marketplace with over 800 units in operation around the world.
The Lambda Lab features a powerful Unix workstation for fast reliable operation, Autonesting software for
optimum productivity and dual paper cassettes for fast printing of mixed orders. Printing at 400 ppi, the quality
of printing sets the standard to which others can only aspire. In the words of some of the visitors to the Open Week,
At last digital is better than conventional optical enlargements.
