Durst launches the new Rho 600 Series flatbed inkjet printer at FESPA
May, 2005

The Rho 600 Series represents the next generation of UV curing flatbed inkjet printers, which combines exceptional quality of print with the highest output speed available. Thanks to brand new print head technology, the new machine is capable of outstanding printing performance, without compromise.
The Rho 600 incorporates Durst QuadroÆ Array Technology, which firmly establishes Durst as the technology leader in the UV curing flatbed inkjet market. The new print head array technology is designed and manufactured by Durst and provides unequalled performance in quality and print speed. It means that printers no longer have to choose between print quality and output speed, one machine will provide both.

Durst QuadroÆ Array Technology
The new print head technology features four nozzle plates in an array configuration. There are 512 nozzles per array, which is double the number for almost the same space of previous models. The space saved allows for more nozzles to be placed in the print carriage and thus achieves higher speeds, without sacrificing quality.

Finest image quality
The Quadro array can print from 400 to 600 dpi, utilising variable drop sizes for different dpi settings. Durst has also developed its own firing electronics for this array. The result is very consistent ink droplet mass, which creates extremely smooth solids and very fine text. The solid colours are rich and clean and show no banding, image areas do not appear ≥grainy≤, whilst the text quality is unrivalled in the UV inkjet market. The machine can easily print 6pt reversed out type.

Highest printing speed
With output speeds of up to 160m2 per hour, the Rho 600 is the fastest UV flatbed available. This is maximised by the best production workflow with one directional loading and unloading.

Exceptional reliability
The print head also features an osmotic filter for degassing the ink prior to jetting and the ink channels have a straight feed system. These features produce extremely reliable jetting, with very few dropouts, and reduce the need for purging. Quality, speed and reliability with less maintenance are all benefits of the innovative Quadro print head.

Modular design offers ultimate flexibility
Like the revolutionary Rho 205, the Rho 600 is designed to be upgradeable with both speed and ink options. The ink options include: white, varnish and spot colours.
The three models in the series are based on output speed.
Ä Rho 600 Basic. 4 Quadro arrays and maximum print output of 40m2 per hour
Ä Rho 600 Presto. 8 Quadro arrays and maximum print output of 80m2 per hour
Ä Rho 600 Rapid. 16 Quadro arrays and maximum print output of 160m2 per hour

The different configurations allow printers to specify the most suitable machine for their businesses. However, the different ink options, and speed increases can be upgraded at a later date. Thus it allows the machine to ≥grow≤ with a customerπs business and helps to keep them at the leading edge of technology.

In addition to the standard board configuration, all machines are available with a roll to roll option and will accept the Durst feeder/stacker option for fully automated print production. The Rho 600 is fully compatible with the Durst Preparation Station, which enables the workflow to be optimized and can increase productivity by up to 60%. For the production of 3D graphics, it is also compatible with i-cut technology for automated cutting.

A Rho 600 is the ideal choice for the widest range of applications, whether it is a photolab requiring the highest quality of print, a digital printer needing fast media change for a variety of different print requirements or a screen printer concerned with high volume output, there is a Rho 600 configuration that will match the requirement and the budget.

Durst was present at the outset of flatbed inkjet printing and since then has been consistently at the forefront of the new technology. The Rho inks provide the best adhesion and flexibility whilst our engineering excellence is second to none.

The introduction of the Rho 600 Series is further evidence of our ability to provide the worldπs most innovative technological solutions for direct to media printing.
